This completely self sufficient off-grid home will provide you all the comforts you are used to while giving an authentic stay in the Alaska Wilderness. This rental is by the bedroom (most rooms sleep 2-3 people) or it may be possible to reserve the entire house if you have a group- please send an inquiry with your group size and ages to determine rate. Rooms all have their own private bathroom. There is also a traditional style banya with wood heat by the creek many people enjoy experiencing while in Alaska. It is particularly nice to do after a day hike to soothe your bones and rejuvenate your skin- we'll have it nice and warm and waiting for your arrival. Due to the remote nature and logistics of flying to Lake Clark, we will include all meals in your stay so you don't need to worry about buying and bringing food with you. You'll have hearty meals and snacks and for sure we will cook up any fish you may catch if you venture out with a rod and reel. To reach Lake Clark, you'll take a wheel plane or float plane from Anchorage and fly past towering mountains, glaciers, rivers, and volcanoes Mt. Redoubt and Mr. Iliamna. Be sure to have your camera handy to catch these incredible sites and if you're lucky you'll see some wildlife along the vegetation or steam coming off of the volcanoes. This flight is around an hour each way. Right from the house, you can venture out in the kayaks or canoes in the bay or paddle around the point to the main lake and explore the rock cliffs. This is a great activity to take a picnic lunch and take your time exploring and paddling on the serene water. You will have a 360 degree view of the mountains rising up into the blue sky, fresh air, and the beautiful glacial fed lake. Across the lake is a great day hike up to Tanalian Falls and Lake Kontrashibuna- take along a lunch and enjoy listening to the falls while you eat. We can take you over by boat in the morning and pick you back up at the designated time to come back to the house for a filling dinner and evening relaxing in the great room recounting your adventures of the day. For those who would like to do more exploring in the further regions of Lake Clark National Park, we can arrange for bear viewing on the coast or a trip up to the famous Dick Proenneke hand built cabin on Twin Lakes featured on Alone in the Wilderness. Some of the best fishing in Alaska is right here in Lake Clark. Alaska Northern Pike, Grayling, Lake Trout, and Salmon are all accessible from the lake. Our cabin comes with an outside area for processing fish, complete with chamber vacuum packer, and large chest freezer for guests to freeze fish. This cabin is one of six, grouped on a two acre area, surrounded by Alaskan wilderness. You will not hear traffic (unless it is a guest coming or going), but only the sounds of nature. The cabins are surrounded by 260 acres of wilderness, and accessible by a three mile gravel road. (Tall Tree Ave and then Not So Far St). This is a cute, cozy one room dry cabin. Enjoy great views of Mount Iliamna right from your cabin window. A fire ring with grill is included with each cabin, and firewood is available at a low price or bring your own. Price includes towels and bedding for the queen bed. Cabin does have electric, and a bathroom with shower and hot water is located about a hundred feet away. Plenty of parking and room. We are located about four miles off the Sterling Highway. The road in is gravel, and it regularly maintained, however it can have pot holes in it at times. A fish cleaning area, complete with a chamber vac packer and freezer is available for guests to use. What does a T-Rex have to do with Alaska, you might wonder? Alaska does have it's own mini T-Rex! In northern Alaska a fossil was found of a pygmy Tyrannosaur. Thinking this was pretty cool, I themed the cabin as such. Did you know the Bible talks about dinosaurs? The verse on the wall is taken from Job 41. I thought that was pretty neat. We get our business name, Henry's Alaska Cabins, after a former owner of the property. Henry traveled to Alaska by train and boat, lived without electric and modern conveniences and prospected for gold above Fairbanks. Our cabins are located on 239 acres of Alaskan wilderness, complete with streams, muskeg, moose, and other wildlife.
